(NPS) — As part of the Veterans Day celebration, Mount Rainier National Park will waive entrance fees into the park for all U.S. military veterans, active members of the U.S. armed forces and their families on Wednesday.

This annual “Fee Free Day” is an interagency event. The National Park Service celebrates this event with all other Department of Interior bureaus and the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Forest Service. Entrance fees will be waived for all U.S. military veterans and active-duty military personnel, as well.

The Longmire Museum will be open on Wednesday as will the National Park Inn, which offers dining, lodging and a gift shop. The Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise will not be open, but the road to Paradise will be open (weather permitting).

Many local businesses in the communities surrounding the park will also be open for business.

Visitors are advised that weather and road conditions in the park can change quickly this time of year, and they should be prepared for possible winter-driving conditions.
